Who hangs the exhibitions? You are responsible for hanging your exhibition. You must come prepared with all the necessary equipment for hanging and installing your work and be self sufficient during this time. If you need any advice on the appropriate ways to hang your show, please speak to our Director of Art.
When will I install my exhibition? You are allocated two days to hang your exhibition. The set up period takes place on the Tuesday and Wednesday before your show opens. Our Director of Art is on hand to deal with any issues that might arise at this time. You must make sure that all work is hung by Wednesday evening.
When is the Private View? Our opening events happen on Fridays 7pm - 9pm. You may set up your bar from 6pm.
What refreshments will be available at the Private View? You are welcome to provide complimentary drinks and nibbles for your guests.
Who will publicise my exhibition? It is your responsibility to publicise your exhibition with Invitations, posters, social media and a press release. Your exhibition will be featured on our website. Where possible we will share content and post about your show on our social media channels.
When do I take down my exhibition? You will take down your exhibition on the Saturday after your show closes 10am - 5pm. We require that you paint and fill any holes left in our walls, returning the gallery to how you found it.
Do you require an exhibition proposal? The work that is to be exhibited must be included in your initial proposal to our Director of Art. You will need to supply her with links to your website or other online portfolios when your booking is being discussed.
What is appropriate exhibition content for your audiences? Islington Arts Factory is a community arts centre that welcomes everyone. The content of the exhibitions must be appropriate for audiences of any age. For works yet to be finished at the time of booking, please talk to the Director of Art to check it's for suitability for all of our visitors.
Do you have Audio Visual Equipment? Islington Arts Factory does not have any audio visual equipment. If using equipment of this nature in the galley you must be completely responsible for both the set up of that equipment and its security. If using audio visual equipment we recommend doing a trial run before you come to install, just to make sure you won't come up against any issues when you get here.
If you require additional technical assistance we can arrange support at £20/hour.
Do you take a percentage of sales of work? We do not take a percentage of any sales made during your exhibition. If you are selling work, please have it clearly priced along with contact details for you so that you can deal with enquiries directly.
What are your gallery fees? Our Gallery Hire fees can be found Here: https://www.islingtonartsfactory.org/gallery.html For a group over 8 artists there is an additional fee of £10 per head. You will be required to pay a non refundable booking fee of £100 to secure your booking. You will then be issued with a contract that will state the date that the full fee is required.
Do I have to invigilate my exhibition? You are not required to invigilate the exhibition. IAF has a buzzer entry system so we are always aware of who is in the building at any one time.
Parking Parking in inner London can be tricky. There is up to 20 minutes unloading time outside the building per day. If available, there is the option of using one of our staff parking spaces on the Tuesday morning of your set up but we cannot guarantee its availability. Which other artists have exhibited at Islington Arts Factory? Literally thousands! Check out our extensive exhibition archive here: https://www.islingtonartsfactory.org/archive
