Children's Dance Classes

Classes start again the week of 9th January 2023

Mini Moves

A playful and creative class for four to seven year olds which builds a strong ballet foundation as they learn some of the fundamentals of ballet, such as first position, plies and tendus.  Through dance games and using their imagination the children will explore movement and learn to express themselves as they develop physical coordination, musicality, poise, focus and confidence.

Ballet Level One

​Still with an emphasis on the use of the imagination children will begin to learn the fundamentals of ballet. Barre work is introduced and all exercises are executed in turnout. Level One focuses on poise, elegance, control and an awareness of space as they add new steps to their dance vocabulary.

Ballet Level Two 

​​Ballet at Islington Arts Factory is not exam based so there is no pressure and children progress at their own pace with the support of their tutor. The focus of Level Two is on building strong technical foundations on which creativity and performance can flourish.

Frequently Asked Question

There is no uniform for ballet classes at Islington Arts Factory, nonetheless dressing properly is essential in ballet class. In Mini Moves all that's needed is comfortable clothes and socks or bare feet, though tutus and ballet shoes are very popular. From Level One ballet shoes are a must and leotards are encouraged and hair needs to be kept off the face.
