Up Against the Wall
4th - 18th June 2010 Artists: Nick Davis, Kmberly O'Carroll-Fitzpatrick Up Against The Wall is an exhibition by pop artist Kymberly O’Carroll-Fitzpatrick and sculptor Nick Davis will be held at the Islington Arts Factory from 4th June to 18th June. The private view will be held on 4th June from 7pm to 9pm. Showing together for the first time, their work explores modern iconography, American comics and 60’s and 70’s pop culture. Kymberly’s paintings are influenced by Lichtenstein and Warhol, dominated by humour her art has no apparent meaning than to entertain the viewer. Mirroring the style of comic books, her paintings consist of flat areas of bright colours and thick black outlines. Nick Davis’ bronze figurative sculpture explores the notions of greed, excess, desire, and self indulgence. Nick creates caricatures that refer to modern iconography, movement, emotion and atmosphere are central to his work. Nick’s bronze furniture explores collage and constructivism, reacting to contemporary themes relating to the collapse of structures, both physical, economic and imagined.
