An exhibition of reproductions, digital prints and real media

'My current practice is to draw on an iPhone to make digital prints or use coloured biros on blank postcards. The work is figurative but tends to be expressionistic. Most of the images are made whilst commuting on the Metropolitan Line tube and labelled with a date and time.

In the café gallery there are 39 digital prints in date order. I would draw each time over the previous session’s work modifying or obliterating. This is something which cannot be done with traditional media so easily.

The main gallery at IAF is huge and I was motivated to make two large grids in an attempt to exploit that unique space. The first piece (Sea) is a grid of 25 frames; a square turned on its end to create a diamond shape four metres high. This is a composition made by printing three different images on the same sheet separately, using an obsolete dot matrix printer. The second piece comprises of 100 white frames containing reproductions of the biro sketches again hung in sequence to form a time line. Around the perimeter are 44 dated photographs in black frames. These are family snaps from the 1950’s cropped to make little portraits: a reference to my late mother.'

The Black and White photo of British woman feeding pigeons in Trafalgar is striking and evocative
