Trip the Light Fantastic arts project by Jane Watt in collaboration with Islington Arts Factory presents:
TRIP-IT, LIGHT-IT, MOVE-IT -‘your chance to dance-it’
A fun, free and friendly community dance programme that offers anyone and everyone the opportunity to experience the dance forms presented in the ‘Trip the Light Fantastic’ performance programme and light installations taking place from January to March 2010 in Archway.
A variety of free, hour long taster classes ranging from the dynamism of Street Dance, to the intricate steps of Tango, the pulsing beats of Contemporary African, the silent presence of Butoh and the red hot saucy Mangueira Samba. A refreshing opportunity to experience dance culture as you’ve never done before, a chance to express your inner self through rhythm and dance.
Workshop Dates:
January 21st - Street Dance
January 28th - Tango
February 4th - Japanese Butoh Dance
February 18th - Contemporary African
February 25th - Mangueira Samba
All workshops take place on Thursdays between 4 to 5pm @ Archway Methodist church 1st floor dance studio, Archway Close N19
All workshops are free of charge but must be booked in advance

BACKGROUND TO ‘TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC’
Over the past six months, artist Jane Watt, has photographed over two hundred people who live, work or study in Archway and who have a passion for dance. She has subsequently created an installation of forty beautiful translucient images, which can be seen in Archway office and shop windows on Junction road, Holloway Road, Highgate Hill, Archway Close and Archway Mall until 18th March 2010.
Trip the Light Fantastic is an Alight commision by AIR at Byam Shaw School of Art (Central Saint Martins School of Art) in partnership with Islington Council.
