An Unjust Law is not a Law 11th - 24th March 2016 An exhibition of new visual artwork by Nifflagan Freedom? What is Freedom? How do you define Freedom? How do we define Freedom? ‘Democracy’, ‘freedom’, and ‘respect for human rights’ are often used as if they were synonyms for each other, however by observing closely, you will understand that this exhibition will illustrate a growing concern amongst the United Kingdom populace that these topics are not easy things to define with 100% certainty. We have all heard of the famous maxim that ‘power tends to corrupt, and that absolute power corrupts absolutely’. This exhibition is not only targeting Tyrannical regimes, but also ‘democratic’ government, who, supposedly, ‘represent’the people. Here, you will see that democracy is not, in itself, an absolute guarantee either of freedom, or of respect for human rights, is it also not a sufficient condition for either of these desirable objectives. Previous events have made ‘the people’ realize Leading Political Parties are not to be trusted (not that they were ever to be trusted whole-heartedly). We have bombarded with news about politicians, named and shamed, public authority corruption etc. We are witnessing another era of ‘lobbyists’, ‘politricks’ and ‘sleazes’.
