Latin Union

24th March 2010

Islington Arts Factory has always been a hub of creativity where artists of all kinds have congregated to create inspiring work to share with the world. Some of these wonderful people are coming together to help IAF keep it’s essential place in this often forgotten corner of North London. LATIN UNION sees Rodney P, Skitz, Million Dan, Ti2bs, She is Danger, Red N Pink, and Latin Dub Sound system together under the same roof for the first time. All these artists are committed to helping IAF because they are part of the IAF community. This collective of beautiful musicians are brought together by the talent, energy and inspiration of The Sea, without whom IAF would not be the place it is today. The Sea has been a constant vehicle for some of the best musical talent that London, and the world, has to offer, whilst always believed in and supported the IAF ethos. This night is supported by Urgent Union whose sound system brings music to all your senses, because at IAF we believe music should be felt not just heard….

If you want to support us and all of these brilliant artists please come to LATIN UNION, check out the LATIN UNION_SAVE IAF page on the website.

Band Rooms and Band Nights

24th September 2009

We love our band rooms, they are a brilliant place for all the amazing bands of Holloway and beyond to come together and make as little or as much noise as they want without anyone complaining. They are a melting pot of creativity with bands crossing over, swapping ideas, myspace addresses, bassists and drummers! We wouldn’t want them any other way…but sometimes they do need a little TLC. In October there will be two Band Nights which will be run voluntarily by IAF staff and volunteers, as well as the bands dedicating their time and their talent for free! We are so lucky! All the proceeds will go straight into buying new equipment for our band rooms so they can be enjoyed for ever more. For details of IAF Fundraiser the Sequel and PowerDown VIII please check out our Events page ( in Activities).

Carnival Weekend!

25th August 2009

Islington Arts Factory has had the great honour of collaborating with Glorious Backstage Arts over the past year in a series of workshops, including our week long summer intensive ‘Carnival Creativity’. All the children’s hard work will be showcased at this years Notting Hill Carnival Family Day, so if you fancy a fantastic fun day come along and support us!

Glorious Backstage Arts is a voluntary sector organisation based in the north London Borough of Islington. Established in 1998 by Angela Slocumbe, GBA evolved in response to a lack of local youth provision for teenagers and young people in the area.

Because playing Mas at the Notting Hill Carnival is a ‘valid’ ageless activity, and nothing similar already existed locally the idea of creating a local Carnival Mas Camp to which anyone both in and out of the borough might feel comfortable joining took shape.

”Our aim is to provide young people with somewhere to go and something positive and exciting to be a part of”. The team seeks to motivate and encourage those who often perceive traditional artistic pursuits as being for ‘other people’. We hope to encourage those who do not see themselves as ‘arty types’ to get involved by providing an opportunity to be part of high profile events which appeal to a young audience.

New site!

17th January 2009

Hooray! You’re now looking at the new website. We’ll be adding things fairly often once it’s all done and dusted and everyone’s got the hang of how it works, so have a look around and let us know if anything’s broken. Thanks!
